re-post

somebody requested me to post the bansri project we never finished due to the cancellation of the magazine, so here it is:

would you believe we did that in their actual shop in Gold City? diana's got guts! and have i got enough patience??? i literally have to mask her hair that was going on all directions, next time i'm gonna make her wear a hairnet!!! this is a scary-lookin ad, but the client liked it, but unfortunately...

well, by the way she's in fp7 now but she emailed me last week and i never got to answer her due to my workload and by the time i'm home im lazy to go to yahoo.

busy. busy. busy.

i haven't blog in weeks!

kuya jun is in the philippines for a three-week (he told me two-week!!?!) vacation and i'm alone here in the creative department, yesterday i was almost crying because i was afraid they might give me something i couldn't handle, kuya jun was almost like a pillar of support for me, i don't know what i'll do if he resigns... thankfully nobody gives me too much work, just the artworks of some participating shops, we actually go to pubs and bars to take pictures, i didn't know bahrain has such nice pubs... (man, i'm beginning to like this job!)

bambi finished his work of art, he's planning to give it but i framed it already, along with the charcoal i made of one of my officemates (i'm not gonna tell who, but i might post it here soon), i started doing it when my blog messes up and until i finish it i still didn't blog so that's how long i haven't posted anything here.

the nationwide two week sale started yesterday, but i don't think they will give our salary in about two weeks so (sigh!) never mind the shopping spree.

slow... too slow

our page seems to be getting slower lately, maybe because of the pictures i uploaded... i haven't blogged in days, i was so busy, and bambi is getting better at drawing, he delivered his first charcoal painting to his friend, i never got to scan it in the office because he was so excited to show it to his friend (i forgot his name).

he was so tense, asking more than 10 times, "kamukha nya ba? kamukha nga ba?" nagiging makulit na but when he smiles at his 'work of art' it makes me smile also. imagine, he's on his way to becoming a hardcore artist...

but you know him, he loses interest in things once he get the hang of it, like sim city, and nba live, splinter cell and so many other things, i hope he never lose interest in this, coz he can really draw...

if only he's patient enough.

WHY NOBODY TOLD ME THAT STUPID MOVIE ISN'T ANY GOOD ANNOYS ME. HOW COULD ANYONE MAKE SUCH A 'FEEL-BAD' MOVIE WHEN THE REASON YOU GO TO THE CINEMA IS TO FEEL GOOD???

IT'S SO DISTURBING! AND IT'S STUCK ON MY MIND!!!

4am basketball

for three consecutive weeks, bambi has been playing with his friends at 4 in the morning, guess that's the only spare time they all have...

he seems happy, getting his game back, but he still didn't buy any basketball shoes, maybe later he and kuya dom will go to adliya, get himself something comfortable because his two big toes aren't happy with his converse....

you wouldn't believe how nice his drawings are, he was so engrossed to learn, that i think he improved very well, i was amazed at the drawing she showed me last month, here they are:

(he drew this while watching some people in the foodcourt, some 6 meters away. isn't it nice? he's better than me now!)

hmmm, not much work for me here, just three artworks came yesterday, im waiting for the 9 confirmed artworks we sent to clients... and we still don't have a spray mount.

congrats jojo for winning the first place in his school's (Central Bicutan High School?) Quiz Bee!!!

saw a two-headed snake lately?

wow, feeling geeky again hehe.... this one's from nationalgeographic.com

The two-headed monsters of myth may have a basis in reality. Two-headed snakes are rare but not unheard of, and one recently found in Spain is giving scientists an opportunity to study how the anomaly affects their ability to hunt and mate.

"We hear of one every several years," said Gordon Burghardt, a herpetologist at the University of Tennessee who has studied several two-headed snakes.

The snake in Spain, discovered near the village of Pinoso, is a two-month-old non-venomous ladder snake Elaphe scalaris. It is about eight inches (20 centimeters) long.

It's probably lucky it was captured—its chances of surviving in the wild are nil, said Burghardt.

"Just watching them feed, often fighting over which head will swallow the prey, shows that feeding takes a good deal of time, during which they would be highly vulnerable to predators," said Burghardt. "They also have a great deal of difficulty deciding which direction to go, and if they had to respond to an attack quickly they would just not be capable of it."

And that's assuming that both heads are hungry at the same time, and both are interested in pursuing the same prey.

"Having two heads would be a hindrance in the wild," agreed James Badman of Arizona State University. "It would be much harder to catch prey." Arizona State was home to a two-headed king snake that was found as a baby. It lived for nearly 17 years in captivity at the university.

Even in captivity, there are problems. Snakes operate a good deal by smell, and if one head catches the scent of prey on the other's head, it will attack and try to swallow the second head.

On the whole, though, they can do quite well in captivity, said Burghardt. Thelma and Louise, a two-headed corn snake at the San Diego Zoo that's now deceased, had 15 normal babies.

Anomaly, Not Evolution

Two-headed snakes typically occur in the same way that Siamese twins do. A developing embryo begins to split into identical twins but then stops part way, leaving the twins joined. Among humans, 75 percent of conjoined twins are stillborn or die within 24 hours.

The point at which the embryo stops separating varies. Just as Siamese twins can be joined at the head, breast, or hip, so too can snakes be joined at varying places on their bodies.

Although it's difficult to be certain, captive inbreeding may cause more two-headed births than in the wild.

"There are no statistics available, since the majority of two-headed snakes cannot survive long after birth in the wild," said Van Wallach, a researcher at Harvard University's Museum of Comparative Zoology.

"The few examples we have are fortuitously captured," he continued. "Many more individuals are surely born, but we never see them. My guess is that they are occurring with greater frequency in captivity than in nature. There is no way to test this, of course, because we can't sample the wild specimens we are unaware of."

"It's not an evolved trait, so each two-headed animal would be highly individual," said Burghardt. Where the split occurs along the body determines how much duplication of organs there is and the degree of competition between the two heads.

"If the two heads are very close together it's going to be much more difficult for them. With more separation, they can act a little more independently," he said.

Individuals, Not Freaks

Each head of the king snake at Arizona State University was supported by a separate neck, but they shared a single stomach. The two-headed black rat snake that lived for close to 20 years at Burghardt's lab had two complete throats and stomachs. Pictures of the ladder snake in Spain show two completely separated heads that join the body at about "neck" level.

That snake is destined for the lab of Enrique Font, a biologist at the University of Valencia. It's too early to tell which organs may be duplicated, he said.

"As I have not yet been able to examine it, I'm reluctant to speculate as to what could be done with it," he said. "To the best of my knowledge, the snake has not been sexed yet. If it is a male, I would be interested in finding out how the snake courts a female.

"In some snake species," he added, "the male rubs its chin against the female dorsum during courtship. As this particular snake has two heads—which may have different ideas about courting and mating—and two chins, it would be nice to find out how the two heads manage the deal and also to find out what the female's response is."

Font is also interested in looking at how—and whether—the two heads cooperate in targeting and capturing prey, and what role two brains play in regulating hunger and mediating other behaviors.

"These animals shouldn't be looked at as freaks," said Burghardt. "They're organisms with motivations and individuality just like any other. They provide us with an opportunity to study cooperation and the processes of controlling the same body with two nervous systems. Studying them might provide some insight into the survival issues faced by Siamese twins."

nothing new, nothing new... oh, i forgot to update my calendar, there must be a least 10 people we know who will celebrate their birthday this month... gifts? what gifts???

shrek 2 is absolutely hilarious! i love puss in boots, esp when he makes that cute face!!!

we repeated it 3x til bambi fell asleep, the sleepyhead!

spider wins over a snake?

check this out, i found this while i was surfing for newsletter ideas for my sister. it's from http://www.rochedalss.eq.edu.au/spider/spidersnake.htm

here's the story:

Spider snacks on snake
11/02/2004 22:23

Bloemfontein, Africa - An office receptionist got the shock of her life earlier this week when she found a 14cm long Aurora house snake entangled in the web of a deadly spider.

Tania Robertson, a receptionist at an electrical firm in Bloemfontein, came in to work on Tuesday and spotted the strange sight next to a desk in her office.

The snake, which had obviously died from the spider's poisonous bite, was off the ground and caught up in the web.

Leon Lotz of the arachnology department at the National Museum immediately identified the spider as a female brown button spider.

The brown button spider, easily identifiable by a red hourglass marking on its stomach, is not quite as deadly as a black widow.

He said it was only the second time in South Africa that he had heard of a snake getting caught in a spider's web.

A 14cm long Aurora house snake that got entangled in the web of a deadly spider. (Charles Smith, Volksblad)
Rod Douglas from the herpetology department identified the snake as being a young, non-poisonous Aurora house snake. It is believed the snake got caught in the web on Monday night. But it did not take the spider long to bite it.A red mark on the snake's stomach was evidence of where the spider had started eating it.

Throughout Tuesday, the spider checked on her prey, but on Wednesday she rolled it up and started spinning a web around it. She also kept lifting it higher off the ground, while continually snacking on it. Even a fly that accidentally landed on the snake was chased off aggressively.

that's a tough one hehe...

since two days ago, i always arrive in the office with beads of sweat on my face, but that's the safest way so i can't complain. last night bambi and i went to seef mall to buy his basketball shoes because his 2 big toes are now black from wearing his old sneakers for playing basketball... this man takes a lot of time looking for the best shoes! we went home with two shoes for me, and none for him. he will buy this week though, in adliya, with kuya dom. i asked him last week what day we will go, but i heard him yesterday talking to kuya dom on the phone what day they will go there. the brat!

i finished the winner's poster at 10.30 am YYAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOOOOO!!!! im not going to the draw, im not goig to the draw!!! i told our boss its too scary being surrounded by many people during the draw and its not safe for me anymore, unlike before when we held it in malls, and he allowed me not to take pictures anymore.... im so happy!! this is the first thursday that im gonna have a real half-day. we only have one whole-day off here in bahrain, that's friday, sort of like their sunday, and thursdays are halfdays, but since the draw began last year (september) i only have the friday off. bambi also has one day-off only, and sometimes he's harrassed to go to work even on a day-off, thanks to his 'kind' boss. his off is tuesday so we hardly have time to go out because of different day-off's. so sometimes when he's morning shift that's when we go to ate wendy's house to swim.

last july at ate wendy's house

with kuya jun and icey

or if he's night shift i go to their shop after work.

after his contract there we're gonna find a job that has the same off as mine. too bad that automotive job he first applied didn't have visa that time.

later im just gonna chill out in the afternoon (and watch the sunshine again and enjoy my half day, tomorrow i have to do the laundry and clean the house, hey, is there any poisonous spiders here in bahrain? yiii, i hope not to find one in our house.

walkin' on sunshine

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

ive been forced to walk a longer but safer route to the office this morning, these stupid drivers don't know how to give way to a pedestrian, so i went to the pedestrian lane ( a little far from my house) where i can push a button and be in control when i will pass...

as always, bahrain has a wonderful sunny morning and i basked in it while i was walking.

(sigh) 300+ visitors and still nothing new at our guestbook, or in our forum. i think i'll just remove those later. i wasn't really busy today, no ink and spray mount cancelled my work, plus this brochure still lacks a lot of artwork from clients.

i think bambi is still snoozing, it's his day-off today... i want to watch school of rock (it says 'new' in the cinema brochure when its absolutely finished in manila already, gosh how late are we here?) but he said he'll just rent a dvd. saves us all time and money.

his boss apparently wants to charge me for my father's account, i thought they were the best of friends (she and my father), why does she wants me to pay for the sweets and chocs that my father never delivered to her daughter since he went home when im miles away from them, makes me wonder, is it all money that's important to her? its been months (since february) that this issue came up, until now she still stands on her ground. she takes away all my respect for her on the way she acts nowadays. f*ck her, i will not talk to her anymore.

nice header

got my concept while i was surfing, blog after blog, trying to find out who has the most interesting life...

isn't it nice? i've been staring at it for hours trying to figure out what's the nicest look of all, and i've uploaded 3 pictures before deciding on this one to be the one... bambi was impressed when he saw it, gave me a kiss as a prize!

i have long wanted to put a header in this blog, but i never had the time. and once i get so enthusiastic about something but can't find the time to do it, in time i just give the concept up... like my personal magazine... and now im pretty enthusiastic about making my own magazine about interior decorating, from pictures i have gathered since i was in dubai of furnitures, houses, everything, that makes me dream of my future house so cosy and comfy...

nuff about me,

bambi's making an email to doris, his cousin, and no matter how hard i persuade him to make a post, he's just too lazy to make one,so you're still stuck with me...

we went to our draw a while ago, bambi was morning duty so he accompanied me, the usual boring draw...why do i have to take pictures? they dont use it for press release anyway! but i guess i can use it as an excuse for being late the next morning... all things has its price.

bambi's too sore to do anything strenous this past few days, from the time he played basketball last sunday, he's been on so much pain just getting up and sitting down... his friends from baba habbas told him to do it again next week so he'll get used to play again, he's very energetic inside the court, and not playing for one year paid its price when he played it again for the first time... so i guess there'll be more early morning plays starting next week.

i've been wondering how i can put music to this blog... i never had time to research on that, since i started the 44-page brochure, today i was just doing the levendome hotel page, since nobody submitted an artwork yet, im still stuck on the 9 pages i have...

i still think my header is brilliant!
